I was housesitting where there was a piano. I sat down and began playing just to hear the piano sound, really. No intention whatsoever on my part to write a song. This melody came to the fore followed soon after by words.
It came in as a bit of a download, though I didn't realize it at the time. as I've heard many songwriters talk about songs coming to them, or through them. To me, the best ones, rare as they are for me, always come through this way.
lyrics
Loverboy
we could go stomp at the Savoy
swirl in that hot, chaotic joy
go walking out in the square
we're the only ones out here
staring up at the stars
I wanna know who you are
cause you have a universe
there inside you
and I wanna see it, now,
don't you hide it
you just might be the real McCoy,
oh yes, yes, I wanna be,
I wanna be your loverboy
go walking out in the square
we're the only ones out here
staring up at the stars
I wanna know who you are
cause you have a universe
there inside you
and I wanna see it, now,
don't you hide it
you just might be the real McCoy,
oh yes, yes, I wanna be,
I wanna be your loverboy
I wanna be your loverboy
